Blog Writing
Starting and maintaining a blog is a great way to draw customers to your website. Using the right words within your blog helps your website turn up when customers are searching for solutions. It's called Search Engine Optimization (SEO) and it's a great way to draw clients while building credibility. Here's a few examples of blogs I currently write for CompTIA - the IT industry association. Check out some of my latest CompTIA bylines here.

Newsletters

Communicate with and retain your customers with a newsletter. Electronic newsletters can be a timely and economical tool that allows you to promote specials, new product features and reach out to your customer base. These newsletters were designed for EducationCity.com - an online teaching and learning resource, and the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS) - a professional society. Here's an example of an advocacy newsletter I wrote for CompTIA. I've also worked with Minute Men Staffing on their quarterly customer newsletter Your Business this Minute.

Marketing Collateral

Postcards, flyers, brochures, etc. are all part of your company's brand and image. A great piece should drive the reader to take action. Here's a membership brochure I wrote for CompTIA along with a corresponding landing page.

Promotional Emails

There's an art (and a science) to creating productive promotional emails. Media savvy readers require something to catch their attention before they hit the delete button. Here's an example of an Upcoming Events email. Then, take a look at this event recruitment email along with a retention email.

Long-Form Content

Writing long-form content is different than any other type of marketing piece. Not only is it important to capture your audience and keep them reading, but it's just as important to organize the content into multiple digestible pieces that can be easily picked up by other media outlets. This report is called Tech Towns. I was given the research and pulled the most compelling stats to develop a narrative about each town.

Magazine Articles

Interviewing subjects and writing about their contributions to their industry is something that I love to do. I've met the most interesting, smart and talented people during this process. Check out some of my stories in CompTIAWorld like this cover story profiling the organization's Member of the Year, this spread breaking down Cyberstates research, this piece about a company initiative, this cover story about the automation of jobs, and another cover story about combating ransomware.
